Scenarios
- Why does God allow suffering?
One-liners
- Good question – where does it come from?
In-brief
Four truths on suffering:
- This world is not right
- We are not innocent
- God is not indifferent
- This life is not ultimate
(Matt Smethhurst)
So it's not a simple answer and our default reaction is often 'Why me?' We suddenly blame the God we've maybe ignored and have been scant in thanking for the good things. However we can remember that God's love is not affected by our short-sightedness bought on by our pain.
When we start to process it we might recognise the 4 different aspects mentioned above. We will see God at work if we look. We will know that the end is not the end.
Shield verses
