Scenarios
- You’re just prejudiced
One-liners
- What exactly have I done
In-brief
Racial discrimination is one of the longest-standing prejudices and always needs confronting.
However it can also be weaponised by ‘playing the race card’, hence the need to find out what exactly the issue is.
It’s natural for us to be wary of those different to people we know and trust. ‘Stranger Danger’ – right? Some use this natural reticence to impute moral failure before anything has been said or done (as BLM do).
We also naturally associate personal immutable characteristics with the reputation of others of the same type, a built-in defence mechanism.
How do we move from reticence to developing an appropriate relationship? The best way (as with every person who is strange to us) is to seek to get to know them better so that you can judge them rightly – according to the content of their character.
Shield verses
- There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
