The word is that the Old Testament is old and full of violence and out-of-date laws.
However Jesus declared that he was the fulfilment of the law, so we should at least understand its principles – like justice, jubilee, investment in life, origins, psalms of praise, wisdom in proverbs, love-poetry and hopeful prophecy.
